Buxton School is a designated Science College. The school’s status came about as a result of an application to the Department of Education and Skills in 2003 and means we specialise in the three sciences • raise standards of attainment for all pupils, particularly in our specialist subjects • extend the subjects available both within the school day and after school time • raise the standard of teaching and learning in our specialist subjects
Our students need to develop the skills to become leaders, to take responsibility and show commitment and enthusiasm. This also develops their self-confidence. • take assemblies • raise money for charities • serve as form captains • serve on the school council • become prefects • be ambassadors for the school by meeting and greeting guests and visitors. • Become trained and work as ‘peer leaders’
