Buxton School achieved their best ever GCSE results this week, outperforming all their targets.  66% of their pupils gained 5 GCSEs at grades C and above; 45% gained 5 GCSEs at grade C and above with English and Maths.  This is a 10% improvement on last year’s results.  29 pupils gained 10 or more GCSEs at the top grades, including one with 14 and three with 15 GCSEs!

Pupils screamed, cried with delight, hugged each other and chatted excitedly about what their excellent results would enable them to do in the future when they collected their results at the school last Thursday.

Headteacher, Candice Dwight, said, ‘We’re all absolutely delighted with our excellent results.  This is reward for the hard work of all our young people and the exceptional effort and hard work of our staff.  This is exactly what Ofsted recognised when they inspected the school in June this year.’

Ofsted commended Buxton School for many aspects of its work.  It was described as an ‘improving school’ with ‘a clear and ambitious vision’ and ‘strong capacity for sustained improvement.’

The report says that ‘Buxton is an inclusive and welcoming community where the vast majority of pupils feel safe.’, and that ‘Consistently good behaviour at Buxton is one of the school’s key strengths.’

‘Parents and carers are supportive of the school,’ including one who said, ‘The school is friendly, inclusive and well-run.  My children are happy here and we are kept well-informed about all activities and their progress.’
