Last month a group of Year 10 pupils went to see a performance of ‘The Crucible’ at Regents Park Open Air Theatre. ‘The Crucible’, by Arthur Miller, is a play about justice and intolerance and the role of the individual in society. Although the play is set in 1692, these ideas are still relevant in today’s world. The Year 10’s have studied the play for their GCSE English Literature coursework so this was a fantastic opportunity to see a professional production. The outdoor setting created a dramatic atmosphere for the play particularly as the park got darker along with the events of the play. The pupils were on the edge of their seats as the play reached its thrilling climax and had to stop themselves from cheering out loud at John Proctor’s passionate declaration, ‘BECAUSE IT IS MY NAME!!!’. The trip was funded by Jack Petchey Award money, won by Dan Nyamekye
