Jack Petchey Workshop
Posted on: 28 September 2026Year 10
Our Year 10 students took to the stage today to showcase their public speaking and debate skills during an inspiring session of the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge at Buxton School.

The workshop put student voices front and center, pushing participants out of their comfort zones through high-energy, confidence-building activities. Standing tall without notes or scripts, students took on the challenge of persuading a room full of their peers on a variety of bold topics—from fiercely debating whether time travel beats flight to arguing the merits of mind reading over super strength.
The debates were compelling, the arguments sharp, and the atmosphere electric. By the end of the session, the transformation in the room was remarkable, with students demonstrating impressive poise, articulacy, and conviction in their delivery.
The Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge is designed to equip young people with the essential communication skills and self-belief needed to make their voices heard. Congratulations to all our Year 10 participants for stepping up, supporting one another, and delivering such powerful presentations!
