URGENT MESSAGE - Partial school closure for Nursery, Year 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10

Posted on: 17 March 2020

Wednesday 18th March 2020 – School closure for students in Nursery, Year 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10

Dear Parents/Carers

I have had to take the difficult decision today to begin to close the school to certain year groups because of staff shortages. This is NOT as a result of any confirmed case of Coronavirus; this is due to the recent government advice that was published last night on social distancing.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-on-social-distancing-and-for-vulnerablepeople/guidance-on-social-distancing-for-everyone-in-the-uk-and-protecting-older-people-and-vulnerable-adults

I am partially closing Buxton school as of Wednesday 18th March for an initial period of 14 days, for all Nursery, Year 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10 students. Students will be provided with details of work to complete at home during this initial period of school closure and further information about how students can use Show My Homework, Times Table Rock Stars, Literacy Shed, GCSEPod and other resources to support their learning whilst at home. Further information will be emailed to you on Wednesday 18th March. Information will also be uploaded to the homepage on Buxton School website.

Students in Reception, Year 1, 2, 3, 6, 7 and 11 should continue to attend school as normal. Their timetable will be reviewed daily in line with staff availability. We presently do not see a reason for these year groups to close unless more staff are affected and are unable to work.  I will send regular updates as and when I receive further government guidance via text, email and website updates.
