Buxton School is running shorter school days this week from Tuesday 23rd of June to Thursday 25th of June. We aim to operate on your usual timetable on Friday 26th of June. With it expected to reach up to 37 degrees Celsius outside of the school building, many of our classrooms and indoor spaces could become even hotter than this, particularly in the afternoons. These conditions are not conducive to learning when students and staff are in classrooms.

In line with this, Buxton School will be running shorter (truncated) school days this week. All children (except vulnerable students whose parents the school has contacted) will have left the school site by 1:35pm. This will ensure that the bulk of our children’s learning is protected and that they will have had lunch, whilst ensuring that they are not travelling home during the hottest point in the day. These arrangements ensure the health and wellbeing of our community at this time whilst minimising disruption to the children’s education.

All after-school clubs have been cancelled, and adjustments have been made to ensure that children are not spending long periods of time outside in high temperatures. This includes PE.
